June 17, 2016 – Flag Day, June 14, 2016, was celebrated with the groundbreaking for the long awaited Oregon State Police Fallen Trooper Memorial. The memorial is located in front of the Public Service Building on the Capitol Mall. The groundbreaking was organized by White Oak Construction, the company chosen to construct the memorial. Salem, OR (Feb. 24, 2016) White Oak Construction and team members are strong supporters of the Salem Police Foundation. The annual Breakfast with the Chief was held on Feb. 24 and owner Mark Fox and project engineer Peter Shanks were in attendance. The Foundation was seeking funding to obtain a mobile command center to assist in serious situations such as active shooter or natural disaster. Shanks had his picture taken with one of the K9 officers. Project manager, Dan Wellert serves on the Foundation Board.
