Wellert Joins Salem Police Foundation Board
Dan Wellert, Project Manager for White Oak Construction, has been named to the Board of the Salem Police Foundation (SPF). Wellert has 19 years experience managing all kinds of commercial and industrial construction projects in the Midwest, Central Oregon and Salem He currently serves as president of the Salem Contractors Exchange plan center and completed the Salem Chamber of Commerce’s Inspire Foundation Leadership series in addition to his many technical and professional certifications.
Says Wellert, “It is an honor to have been invited to serve on the Salem Police Foundation board of directors. I believe in giving back to the community and working with the Foundation is one way I can support the officers who protect us.”
SPF promotes community support for the Salem Police Department while enhancing public safety by supporting the Salem Police Department, its members and the community. Foundation donors made it possible for the foundation to buy kits for all officers for use in the field to provide critical first aid before the medics arrive. A kit like this was used in 2012 on a Benton County sheriff’s sergeant, whose life was probably saved by the quick actions of Salem police officers Fundraising events also supported the purchase of domestic violence cameras, support the K-9 unit and acquire a state-of-the-art fuming chamber to develop fingerprints on evidence.
More than 30,000 Salem children have been exposed to the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), and the Salem Police Foundation has pledged to raise funds to support the program. Developed in 1983, the program has been active in Salem since 1992. http://salempolicefoundation.org/
