White Oak helps at Helping Hands Resources
Salem, OR (Dec 11, 2015) One of White Oak Construction’s favorite nonprofits is Helping Hands Resources (HHR) in Salem. Not only have they donated remodeling, but sponsored the development of their updated website. On Dec. 11, Peter Shanks, project engineer volunteered for HHR’s Toy Day Event.
HHR gathers donated clothing, bedding and household items and provides them to people in need at no charge. Each year they hold a Toy Day Event to allow clients to come in and select one Christmas gift for each of their children.
Joyce Peters, President of HHR said, “We will have about 25 volunteers helping to run the event. As a parent enters, they are matched with a ”personal shopper” who will help them navigate to the tables that contain age appropriate gifts for their children. We have volunteers who keep the parking situation under control and we have White Oak Construction volunteer, Peter Shanks, who helps carry packages to the client’s car. We usually serve about 150 clients during the three-hour event.”
